This database contains almost 60,000 records of Indian indentured labourers who arrived in Fiji during the Girmit period. Use the search fields below to explore the records by name, ship, immigration pass number, year of arrival, father’s name or place of origin.

Names and places may have been recorded with different spellings in the original immigration records, so if you do not find a match, try alternative spellings or enter only part of a name.

Where available, a link to the digitised immigration passes held by the National Library of Australia is provided. The link may open a set of passes rather than the individual pass, so note the Immigration Pass Number shown in your search result and use it to locate the correct record on Trove.

Please note: Information in this database has been transcribed from historical records and may contain spelling variations, omissions or errors present in the original documents.
